Pooper Pundits Banned from Parties

When it comes to parties, we all know that Roy Keane and Greame Souness are about as much fun as a laxative-laced pass-the-parcel, but it’s Sky Sports’ younger generation of pundits who are getting a reputation as the real poopers.

Little Jimmy Neville was only turning five but was brought to tears by Uncle Gary’s scathing rebuke of his ‘immature’ celebrations.

Jamie Carragher is no longer invited to weddings after a bizarre outburst calling for the groom to “just get down the tunnel” – apparently demanding that the reception stop so that vows could be consummated immediately.

Both pundits hit back at the party pooper accusations:

Carragher explained that it would be perfectly understandable to do a victory lap after a draw against relegation fodder like West Brom, but totally unacceptable to indulge in anything more than a perfunctory thumbs-up to the home crowd on convincingly defeating the league leaders.

Neville, meanwhile, emphasised that throughout his playing career, he had never stooped as low as celebrating a mid-season win over an invincible-seeming rival, and rightly pointed out that he hadn’t celebrated a single win as a manager.
